Sunset Park Trail

Sunset Park Trail

Hovering between creepy and enchanted, Sunset Park is a veritable sculpture gallery with installations stationed along a 1/4 mile of adventurous tunnels through the junipers. Though the path is short, it is loaded with intrigue – a visual treasure hunt. Wetlands and flower meadows border the outer end of the loop, providing an excellent panorama for admiring wildlife. And a rogue pathway past one of the sculptures leads to a sweet stream.

We also found it a perfect place to read (the G-rated version of) A Midsummer Night’s Dream – what with Oberon manning the entrance….

UPDATE: Unfortunately many of the sculptures have been plundered in recent months so the tour is more of a nostalgic one through the ruins. But the tight tunnels through the cedars are ever-alluring and so much fun for little feet to whiz through. And there are plans underway for a renaissance here.

AS A WINE….

This one’s more of a wine potion, with sweet woodruff and other elfin delights tossed in: a Waldmeisterbohle.
