Willowwood Garden & Arboretum Trails

Willowwood Garden & Arboretum Trails

This magical mashup of so many distinct worlds is a natural amusement park. From the parking lot, manicured lawns curve around idyllic barns to a vibrant cottage garden with sculpted hedges and criss-crossing garden paths – which lead past a once-upon-a-time stone cottage and dive into a hidden bamboo tunnel – which connects with a tantalizing network of shaded oriental garden ponds and pathways – which skirt the main house along stone steps and gravel paths – which lead into the formal yet mischievous Pan’s garden grid – which connects to forest paths – past a wishing well – over footbridges – cutting through flower meadows – and bending back again to the beginning. And if there’s time and curiosity to spare, this is a way station along the 90-mile Patriots’ Path ….

Willowwood was created by the Tubbs brothers in 1908 and holds the distinction of being New Jersey’s most comprehensive and longest continually operating Arboretum.
