Even as an unabashed construction site while the temple is added, this place is a worthwhile experience. The Samadhi (meditation posture) statue of Buddha is the largest of its kind in the Western hemisphere. Learning a little about Buddhism before our visit helped us recognize and understand the details surrounding the massive statue – as well as the principles posted along the meditation trail. Just a 10-minute jaunt through the woods, the trail runs alongside and behind the construction area, ending at Carter’s Brook. Sure to become more meditative when the temple is completed – the path remains a thought provoking journey.
AS A DRINK….
Yak butter tea. Which is quite exotic and overwhelming but also rich and soothing – and definitely unforgettable.
