Helmetta Pond Trail

Helmetta Pond Trail

The T-shaped pier was what drew us here: a perfect place to read and picnic while watching hawks circling overhead. After a quick stop at the playground, we drove to the opposite side of the lake for the footpathing portion. Of the expansive network of trails belonging to the 1500 acres of Jamesburg Park Conservation Area, we only managed to explore the small segment around Helmetta Pond (aka the “Pitch Pine Loop”). But that alone offers a generous dose of pine perfume, forest grandeur and a lovely lake perch for “wasting time.” 🙂

AS A WINE:

Malbec in all its chewy tannic glory with peppery-herb aromas and sour cherry notes.
