As always, nature holds a lovely surprise for you in this strip of space between the Penn Medical Center and the Millstone River. The parking lot is usually empty (save for a medical vehicle on break) – and so the big oval loop has always been clear for biking. A few under-maintained paths over the grassland reach the Millstone, anchored by benches poised to face the river.
Our favorite spot is at the opposite corner of the park from the parking lot – through the “valley of monsters” (a paved path overcome with tall weeds) and along a grassy meadow to another world, where a creek meets the Millstone to form a perfect little point: a prime fishing spot – or, in our case, (stick) boat launch.
