Rockingham Loop Trail

Rockingham Loop Trail

A short path loops from Rockingham’s parking lot down through the woods to the D & R Canal path, back up the hill and returning through the Rockingham grounds – all told under a mile. You can extend the walk as far as you like along the canal, or spend extra time exploring Rockingham’s idyllic setting with a cottage garden, beehives and historically meaningful (and cool looking) buildings.

There’s also a hidden mowed path down the hill to canal – about 200 feet north of the entrance to the parking lot. It’s a pretty place to watch the sunset.

Rockingham was George Washington’s last wartime headquarters. It’s a fascinating place to visit with many examples of Colonial life – and even a life-size Washington figure. Contact Rockingham at the link below for a guided tour – or attend one of their engaging events.
