This sweet adventure includes a native plant demonstration garden, education center, native plant nursery, gift shop, and Wildflower Trail. Bring a picnic to enjoy in your choice of canopied terrace, garden bench or hilltop picnic bench. A lovely path loops through the demonstration garden to the left of the parking lot just past the larger picnic area – and the Wildflower Trail sets off from the back of the nursery. It’s worth following the Wildflower Trail the 1/2 mile to the special shady place at its end.
In the nursery, you’ll find beautiful native plants for every garden scenario and attracting all sorts of wildlife. And the gift shop sells seeds along with books and pretty things. Staff members and volunteers are knowledgable and welcoming.
There’s even a wildflower hotline with weekly updates and forecasts from March to May: 818 768-1802 ext 7. You can also listen online or view pdf transcripts here.
