Bunker Hill Natural Area Trail

Bunker Hill Natural Area Trail

We waded in Huckleberry Finn’s footsteps here. Broad, mowed trails on the hill drop to an under realm of pure adventure.

From the parking lot, paths lure you through the preserve to a trail marker leading down to the river, zigzagging down a steep ravine and then, step stoning across a stream. A few steps further, curving through woodlands, a small cliff rises above a shallow but expansive pool. The water then flows gently into a stream that’s begging to be followed to another curve and another cliff side and seems to meander off to another world.

In actual fact, the brown trail continues to meet the Franklin Natural area, and the Ten Mile Run stream flows through the golf course and through the Butler Road Natural Area.
