The speakeasy of gardens!
Over the hills and not so faraway there rests a paradise of exotic botanicals, grand views, tunneling colonnades, a zen garden, art exhibits, sculpture, and wildlife. Venturing through is a lovely and intriguing event that starts in gardens with fantastic flora native to places like South Africas and Australia, past formal flower beds and verdant performance spaces, on to the resident artist’s studio and gallery and upward to a sweeping overlook that spans from Topa Topa to Lake Casitas.
I had the good fortune of meeting the 2020-21 resident artist Cassandra C. Jones and hearing about her exquisite work which examines the consequence of our dependence on plastics. You can see her work at her website here.
DIRECTIONS:
Visiting the gardens requires a paid reservation (fee depends on the season) and explicit instructions including gate pass codes – to get that inside scoop, make a reservation here.
