Taft Gardens and Nature Preserve

The speakeasy of gardens!

Over the hills and not so faraway there rests a paradise of exotic botanicals, grand views, tunneling colonnades, a zen garden, art exhibits, sculpture, and wildlife. Venturing through is a lovely and intriguing event that starts in gardens with fantastic flora native to places like South Africas and Australia, past formal flower beds and verdant performance spaces, on to the resident artist’s studio and gallery and upward to a sweeping overlook that spans from Topa Topa to Lake Casitas.

I had the good fortune of meeting the 2020-21 resident artist Cassandra C. Jones and hearing about her exquisite work which examines the consequence of our dependence on plastics. You can see her work through July 31, 2021 at Taft Gardens – or at her website here.
