The green rolling meadows, bright wildflowers and winding sandy pathways against a dramatic mountain ridge backdrop had me imagining I’d rambled straight into the Pyrenees – until I glimpsed inimitable Anacapa Island through a valley. A short loop from the parking lot starts along a dusty paved road that brings you to a plateau with beautifully situated picnic tables, some under the shade of tall evergreens – with opportunities to extend your adventure along three diverging trails.
